Schedule for Baseball Track and Football Seasons Outlined

Cornell Intercollegiate debate team outlines price control case

The Cornell Daily overview reports the Intercollegiate debate squad plans a home price control defense with four speakers K. C. Smith Chassell and Kinnan for the affirmative and Mathews Grigsby and Van Pelt for the negative. The nine head plan aims to prove or refute price controls ahead of a Grinnell clash. Cornell Grabs Win Over Grinnell 28 to 19 on Local Floor

Grinnell Iowa March 1 Cornell and Grinnell split honors as the Scarlet and Black defeated the visitors 28 to 19. The Grinnell guards, led by Mike Augustine, disrupted Cornell’s short passing game. Cornell’s guards also shone by scoring most of the team’s field goals.

War Takes Toll on College Glee Clubs and Athletics

The Iowa colleges report war strain on student life with glee clubs delaying tours. Cornell College remains strongest with 225 men in service and military training by Captain MacQueen. The Cornell glee club plans a ten day spring tour starting March 27 featuring Allied and patriotic songs.

Freshman Elect New Class Officers

At a Friday morning meeting the Freshman class elected new officers. Claire Lahman was named president with Steven Williams as vice president. H J Mandeville becomes secretary treasurer, John Hurlburt takes athletic representative, and Alice Cork is social committee chair. Former president Bob Peisen attended for the first time this year.

Milts Edge Parms In Semi Final Debate Fight

The Milts defeated the Parmenian team 2 to 1 in a men’s semi final debate on government ownership of merchant marine. Rouse led the affirmative as the strongest speaker. The Milts advance to face the Adelphi for the faculty trophy in May. Aletheans vs Aesthesians debate on an eight hour work day for women occurs tonight at 7 45 in Day Chapel with the winner set to meet the Prometheans in the spring.

Cornellian Delivers Address at Johns Hopkins Commemoration

Professor Alonzo E. Taylor of the University of Pennsylvania will deliver the principal address at Johns Hopkins University’s forty second Commemoration Day tomorrow. Born in Alden Iowa he studied at Cornell 1886 88 and is now a professor of physiological chemistry at Penn.

Cornell Orchestra Solos And Readings Benefit Red Cross

The Cornell orchestra gave a spring concert to aid the college Red Cross. Despite wartime strains and a smaller group, the performance pleased the audience with Mozart and Brahms works, a Mood Picture by Mr. Miller, xylophone solo by Mr. Richmond, a cornet duet, and Miss Siple’s reading. Mrs. Shaw as concert master impressed with tone and style.
