The Cornell Athletic Board unanimously decided to withhold athletic honors in basketball, baseball, and track from all athletes who broke training rules this year. The move aims to enforce health and efficiency, protect the school’s reputation, and uphold the university’s representation to the state amid losses attributed to violations.
The annual senior faculty baseball game was confirmed for Saturday at 3 P M at Ash Park with proceeds to fund medals from the home meet. A senior lineup features Gravy Kuebler Jap Marston Pete Jensen Shafer Gammons Hinkley Terral Soash Anderson, while the faculty lineup remains undetermined. The chipman house team also played a post season game, losing 12 to 4 to Coleman and Merwin houses.
Dr William F King releases Reminiscences from Abingdon Press New York a 716 page autobiography bound in dark cloth with gilt top edges. It chronicles a long life tied to the college history with a 40 page Shermans army chapter and a pref ace index. Price is 2.50 and orders go through the college office.
The Alethean society elects Ruth Lane as President Madge Edwards as Vice President Randhe Swindell as Recording Secretary Hazel Erickson as Treasurer Ellen Griffith Arva Brady as Censors Josephine Hunt Ference Wycoff as Critics Ruth Bowen as Editor Marjorie Griffith Helen Baughman as Ushers.
The Girls Glee Club will give an open air concert from the chapel steps at six thirty Saturday evening. Several new songs have been worked up and the concert will be well worth hearing.
Old graduates announce plans to attend commencement exercises and visit the campus. Several alumni who have not returned since graduation say they intend to come back for a few days.
At seven fifteen, seventy students gathered at the library for Rutger Bros. show An Aristocratic Tramp. They moved with the band to the depot grounds where the performance continued until nearly ten thirty drawing strong audience reaction to the heroine's ordeal.
Dr Edward T Devine will arrive in Mt Vernon Thursday evening to attend the commencement and spend a few days with his son Thomas, a member of the freshman class.
Miss Ruth Glenny of the senior class was elected Queen of the Pageant by a large majority with Miss Clara Callow as attendant. The crowning follows the introductory processional and includes a Pompeian flower girls dance. The tableau “The Coming of Summer” features Sun, Darkness, Rain, and Wind roles with students portraying the Sun, Darkness, Rainbow, and other elements. music by the college orchestra.
About sixty guests attended the Alethean May party at Celia Rogers home. Lanterns flowers and colors created a festive porch scene. College groups played games and a short program featured Margaret Misener Jethrop Beatprops Cow Frances Moore Arva Brady Ellen Griffith and Irma Addleman. Harold Bolles left for Cedar Rapids due to his mother’s critical illness at St Lukes.
Freshmen claimed a decisive home victory led by standout performances from multiple first year runners. Team-wide effort delivered strong times and a clear margin over visiting competitors, marking a confident start to the season.
Three records were broken at the Ash Park Home Meet with Torrance slicing the mile mark to 4:41.3, Sheeler setting a discus record at 111 feet 4 inches, and Thompson posting a 10:12 two mile. Freshmen dominated scoring, totaling 72 points, while Sophomores followed at 389 and Seniors 27.
