Cornell College stages Pinafore to success

The first Gilbert and Sullivan opera at Cornell College, H. M. S. Pinafore, was a tuneful success. Elizabeth Cole and Grant Coover led a skilled cast with direction by Stanley Teel, Ruth Pinkerton, and Huffman. Adelaide Ports impressed as the Captain's daughter, Ralph Rackstraw played by Vincent Roach, and Raymond Kremer impressed as Sir Joseph Porter. The chorus, cast, and small orchestra provided lively Gilbertian verve from start to finish.

Mr and Mrs Henry Pfeiffer of New York City donate 100000 to endow the Pfeiffer Scholarships at Cornell College, with the fund invested in dormitories to support future scholarships. Dr Herbert Burgstahler notes 102500 total from the trip, 2000 for current expenses and 500 for a loan fund.

The Madonna to be Presented at Epworth League Hour
