Cornell College to Offer New Music Appreciation Course

A new two hour course titled Music Appreciation will be offered next semester at Cornell College with Professor Karl Weiss as instructor. The class will explore harmony and counterpoint through lectures and illustrations, including violin pieces and Victrola demonstrations, focusing on applying musical theory to emotional understanding.

Methodist Bishop to Lecture Here at Cornell

Bishop Frederick DeLand Leete of the Omaha Area will spend five days at Cornell starting February 4. He will give two addresses daily at chapel and evening, plus interviews with students. He has led the Indianapolis area for eight years and was elected bishop in 1912. He is an author of several evangelism and church administration books, including Christianity in Science.

Freshmen to Hold Bob Party Tonight

The freshmen plan a bob party starting at Conservatory corner at 7 pm riding to the Campus Tea Room for hot dogs and coffee. About fifty students signed up. Joe Griffin and committee secured the bob sleds after difficulty. This is the second of several parties this year.

Beem Debating Schedule Plans Two Campus Trips

Beem announces a season of dual meets for women and a Wisconsin Illinois trip for men. The season opens February 15 with Cornell women vs Iowa Wesleyan and ends March 20 with the men meeting Lawrence. The tour includes Beloit Coe Ripon and Lawrence, with Monmouth duals in March to foster cross campus visits.

Educational courses offered for next semester by Mount Vernon

Junior and senior students can register for Education 10b under Superintendent E. J. Stout. Classes meet 7 45 a m on Monday Wednesday and Friday. Stout brings 13 years of teaching and 10 in administration. Also Education 4b and 3b offered by Prof. McConnell, plus Education 8bh Hygiene for women taught by Miss Dorothy Rogers.

Prof. T. W. Mathews of the Business Administration department unveils several new courses and an organizational start for next semester. A Business Placement Bureau aims to aid graduates seeking business or industrial positions, plus a Commercial Teachers Training course if demand exists.
