Events Committee Seeks Better College Calendar

The faculty committee studying college activity congestion hopes for improvements next semester and a real system by next year. Bridgham leads with Miss Betts and Mr. Ebersole, consulting faculty with outside activities, planning student input before action. They reject cutting existing social events and favor recreational Friday and Saturday evenings to ease student workload.

Polly Wallace's team works toward four upcoming meets including Ames State Teachers Lawrence and the Conference invitation at Ames. The January 12 event at Ames looms as first real test with last year's squad returning and several freshmen stepping up, promising strong competition against the favored Ames program.

Cosmopolitan Club Elects Officers for Next Semester

The Cosmopolitan Club held an election with Jose Valencia chosen to succeed Sidney Liu as president and Ruth Horner replacing Saralou Jordan as vice president. Liu will graduate at semester end and leave then. A banquet will honor the retiring president later this month. Valencia also reported on the club convention.

Enrollment Seen Unlikely to Rise in Second Term

The paper notes that second semester enrollment will probably not exceed the figure at the start of the year. Registrations for the first semester were 729, and mid year graduations will reduce the number by ten. The Senior class will grow modestly with Jun ior students graduating before June 1925. ten plan summer session diplomas. Coed Basketball Starts Season With Record Turnout

The Coed basketball season opened with 107 girls at practice, more than any prior year. Elaine Ivy will lead the squad after replacing Minnie Mohn as chairman. teams will form a triple header tournament through March 8 with color teams and a round robin format.

Junior class selects committee to choose best class song

The Junior class forms a committee led by Steve Williams Verne Jay Cleone Harker Harold Eness Ruth Moore and Winifred Mayne to receive manuscript songs, pick the best, and revise as needed. Two songs have been submitted. The contest closes February 1 with a college event to introduce the new music and publish a booklet of Cornell songs.

Royal Purple Year Book Distribution Planned for April

The Royal Purple staff reports rapid progress on the college year book with society athletic and junior class sections sent to engravers. It is hoped the book will be ready for distribution by mid April.

A Bow man Hall student was fined after en ameling the dormitory furniture with dove grey paint. She covered table dresser and two chairs in an early coat, ignoring Bowman Hall uniform furnishings. The college office imposed a heavy penalty to preserve the Freshmen dormitory's plain appearance.

Bok Peace Plan With US Cooperation Aimed At War Prevention

The American Peace Award presents the winning plan to the public with a $100,000 prize for the most practicable approach to U S cooperation with other nations. It advocates adherence to the Permanent Court of International Justice and cooperation with the League of Nations. The winning entry, number 1460, emerged from 22 165 submissions. author names will be revealed next month once ballots are tallied.

New Girls Gym Class Announced By Director

A girls gymnasium class tied to a women’s physical education theory course will start next semester. For ages 12 to 14, sessions run Thursdays 4 to 5, with slightly younger or older girls allowed by special arrangement. Miss Errant directs. registration is Saturday January 19 at 9 in the gym office. The cross country squad names its C jersey recipients: Captain George Smith Robert Yohe Jose Valencia Fred Kleemeier Ford Warnes Carl Deemer and Hubert Wall. Smith Yohe and Valencia return from last year. Kleemeier and Wall graduate. others eligible next fall. Only one meet held the home meet. Iowa won 16 to 39. Smith set a local course record 25 14. Eighty squad members ran in the home meet.

Dr Karl T Waugh dean at USC suggests a model where students allocate sixteen hours for class recitations thirty two for study twelve for dressing and meals twelve for recreation and forty eight for sleep.
