School of Oratory Recital Showcases Student Talent

At the College recital the School of Oratory presented a varied program. Miss Ilo Crabtree delivered The Power of the Press with strong descriptive reading. Other performers included Miss Amber Davis in Lewis Rand and Miss Frances Moore in Romola and Savonarola, earning high praise for voice and character portrayal.

Academy Juniors Top Seniors in Class Basketball Showdown

In a continuation of the class series the Academy defeated the Juniors 27 to 17 while the Freshmen beat the Seniors 16 to 11. Irvin Evans and Harry Milholm starred for the Juniors, with Paul Dobson and Raymond Fox leading the Academy.

Death of Trainer Watson’s Son Delays Iowa-Cornell Match

The Iowa Hawkeyes will delay scheduling the Cornell game after news of trainer Watson’s son's death. The athletic board approves remaining at home for the funeral with a bodily attendance. Attempts to reschedule the Coe game at Cedar Rapids or a later Iowa return date are underway. if unsuccessful a much later date will be chosen. The Freshmen-Clinton High game remains set for three o'clock.

Cornell College Orchestra Draws Pride in Spring Tour

The Cornell College Orchestra marks its eleventh spring concert tour highlighting growth since 1905 from a local group to a leading state ensemble. The group, mostly students, has performed in 50 to 60 towns in ten years and backs Handel’s Messiah with the Cornell Oratorio Society for eight years.
