Cornell College Student Council votes to expand representation from 18 to 26 members through a two part referendum. The first section standardizes posts and the second adds two ISGC representatives. Voting opens Thursday in dorms from 9 am to 5 45 pm with off campus ballots by mail.
A four day symposium titled Freedom and Form the Arts in 1965 will bring writers artists musicians dancers and actors to the campus March 2 to 4 and culminate March 4 with a First Chamber Dance Quartet performance. Organizer Wilbur West notes lectures workshops and exhibits aimed at student participation with public attendance permitted at most events.
Marty Malin, student council representative, says a proposal to change Cornell's men's Required Activity program is before the faculty curriculum committee. The plan envisions nine weeks in a sport and emphasizes carry over activities, with freshmen excluded and tentative schedules already drawn up.
Four Cornell seniors Garry Clarke Nicholas Stroud Richard Tow and Joanne Lee have been named Ford Foundation fellows for the University of Chicago humanities M A program. The awards include tuition and living stipends totaling 4 280 for tuition and 2 000 for living expenses. Cornell coordinates the program through David H Hesla.
Cornell students heard James M. Lawson Jr. discuss a non-violent Christian inspired movement aiming to extend civil rights. Lawson, special project director for the SCLC in Memphis and Centenary Methodist pastor, urged a moral national choice and highlighted the Great Society and a Redeemed Society.
Mara thon Corporation of the American Can Company and Standard Oil of Chicago will interview students on Thursday March 4 from 1 to 5 p.m. in South Hall 105. Marathon seeks marketing trainees while Standard Oil looks for marketing sales. Sign up at the placement office by March 2.
