Radio Programs To Be Presented Over WSUI

Cornell will start a weekly half hour radio show on WSUI with a tentative first broadcast March 7 at 4 p.m. The Hilltop school will join Iowa Wesleyan and Grinnell, already airing on Iowa's State University network. Producer roles will be department based with Craig Tenney and Robert C. Jeffreys guiding the effort.

Group Discusses Christian College

The committee studying What is a Christian college met in Law building with Dr. F. G. Brooks presiding. Members included Mrs. Lois Henderson Dean J B MacGregor Dr. Francis E Throw Dr. Harold Ennis Dr C Littell Dr M A Morrill and Prof Lloyd Oakland. Further meetings will refine the question and a final draft will go to the national AA College committee.

Former Professor To Be Next Chem Club Speaker

Donald Scott formerly a chemistry professor at Cornell will speak at the next chemistry club meeting. Dr Charles Starr, sponsor, notes Scott taught at Cornell two years ago and is now finishing a Ph.D. at the University of Town. Soprano Suzanne Danco to Perform Tuesday Night at King Memorial

Soprano Suzanne Danco will sing Schumann Frauenliebe und Leben in the Artist and Lecture Series at King Memorial chapel Tuesday night at 8 15. The program opens with Bach and Handel songs. Paul Ulanowsky will accompany and the recital closes with French songs by Faure and Ravel.

A Cornell team heads to the University of Nebraska for a weekend tournament with sixteen schools expected. National topic: Resolved that non Communist nations should form a new international organization. Youth in crisis of the future discussed by a mixed college-age group. Mr and Mrs Philip Henderson welcomed about 25 attendees to an English Journalism department open house at their home Sunday night. It marked the first such meeting of the year for the department.

Juniors To Give Policeman Ball March 10

An all school party sponsored by the Junior class will be held in the gym Saturday evening March 10. The theme is Policeman's Ball as announced by Ruth Temple class president. Attendees must wear a costume suggesting a recent arrest with games dancing refreshments and a floor show planned.

Burst Pipes Prompt Roast Dinner for Volunteers

Mrs. Margaret Williams rewarded student volunteers with a roast beef dinner after they spent the day redecorating her home. Water pipes burst while she was away for Christmas, frozen by a faulty gauge on an oil burner. Wilbur West oversaw the decorating, with the furnace company covering costs.

Cedar Falls Next On Everyman Tour

The Cornell cast of Everyman, a medieval morality play, performed to about 350 at St Pauls Methodist Cedar Rapids on Feb 18 as a Lenten service. It heads to Cedar Falls for a Feb 24 show then Mason City on Feb 25.

Carl Sandburg Delights Capacity Cornell Crowd in TV Program

Carl Sandburg appeared at Cornell for his 18th visit, delivering reading and song in Lower Chapel for about 250 attendees. He spoke on Lincoln and war years, warned against hysteria, and linked world issues to Civil War era themes. He read poems including Cool Tombs, previewed new work, and performed with guitar. Dr. Clyde Tull hosted a post program coffee hour with guests from Cornell and Coe College.

A committee of students and faculty members will invite faculty and their wives to weekly meals with Bowman and Pfeiffer Hall residents. Notice on shortened schedule for Religion in Life week

Due to Religion in Life week morning class periods on Tuesday February 27 Wednesday February 28 and Thursday March 1 will be shortened by five minutes each to fit a 30 minute chapel period. The revised timetable lists 1st period 7 45 to 8 30 2nd period 8 40 to 9 25 chapel 9 35 to 10 05 3rd period 10 15 to 11 05 4th period 11 15 to 12 05.

Riddle Solved at Cornell Sock Hop

The campus sock hop Saturday night solved last week's riddle shoe themed. About 125 attendees gathered as Jerry DeFries and Jim Torrence led social committee efforts and pie eating contest winner took a cherry pie prize. Music came from records with cakes and popcorn for refreshments.
