Thirteenth Colonial Ball Recalls Olde Tyme Days at Cornell

The Colonial Ball returns for its 13th year at Alumni Gym at 8:00 p.m. Seniors rehearse the minuet as eight leading couples prepare for the grand march. The Girls Glee Club will sing an encore and the event draws students, faculty, and townspeople for the annual campus pageant.

Cornell Symphony Orchestra Announces Spring Radio Tour

The Cornell Symphony Orchestra of 88 players led by Prof. Miller will tour central Illinois from March 16 to March 26 with a broadcast of its program on WOC Davenport. A home concert is planned for March 27.

Cornell Runners Hold Tryouts for Illinois Relays

A slate of tryouts on a slick track tested Cornell runners ahead of the Illinois Indoor Relays on Saturday March 3. In the 440 heat results Peterson led with Lakey second Donovan third and Pirkey fourth. Barbour Kennedy Kleemeier and Hooper followed in the second heat. Bond won the mile and Yohe Valencia Smith and Kent placed in order. Next week’s half mile trials start to determine three beams for an Illinois meet including a mile relay a two mile relay and a medley relay. The timekeepers offered no times but expect a strong Cornell track team this year.

Casals Concert Postponed to March 2 After Travel Delay

The Casals recital was postponed after the conductor missed a train in De Kalb Illinois and faced nearly impassable roads. He canceled by telephone after reaching Stanwood, leaving many out of town attendees disappointed, but a new date was quickly set for March 2 with final ticket details to be announced March 1.

Girls' Glee Club Presents Featured Musical Program Tonight

The Girls Glee Club under director Anne M. Pierce presents a polished program at 8:00 p m in the Cornell auditorium featuring solo numbers by Alice Eddy and Clara Eness a chorus from The Mikado and aesthetic dancing Dena Kreager accompanies while the club plans a spring tour through Iowa and Illinois from March 16 to March 26 with rehearsals culminating tonight.

Mermaids Meet in Aquatic Clash

The W A A swimming meet is set for March 14 with events for all grades. Miriam Skewis announces preparations including races water games diving and life saving demos. Intermediate and advanced swimmers should attend pool sessions at 1 45 o clock on Monday and Wednesday to train, with limited spectator access.

Cornell coeds stage a playful crusade against Old King Cold with so called Health Rules. The rules mock campus trends and include eight hours sleep in class, hair tonic, four meals daily, daily exercise like chewing gum, facial makeup regimes, gaudy clothing, and even an onion daily as cold prevention.

The Board of Trustees of Cornell College will meet tomorrow at 9:00 for an adjourned session. This is the first meeting since June, with 36 trustees listed though attendance may be lighter.

Japanese Program of Music and Drama On Cornell Course

The March 2 lecture feature titled A Japanese Program of Music and Drama will be presented by Mr and Mrs Michitaro Ongawa. The program will reflect old Japan life with artistic costumes showing characters from different classes. The fourth lecture in early April will be an address by Henry J Allen governor of Kansas and noted platform speaker.

Cornell girls will view footwear exhibits at Bowman Hall and Altoona dorms on Monday. Local Cedar Rapids merchants Killians Snyder's and pralkexer Shop provide shoes and guidance on appropriate school, dress, and evening footwear. Chemistry Club to Stage Movie Night at College Auditorium

The Chemistry Club presents its second motion picture show next Tuesday at 6 40 pm in College Auditorium. The program includes three or four industrial reels, a two reel comedy, and a travel picture with subjects announced in the Cornellian. A real orchestra will perform and Polly Anna boxes will be sold. Admission is ten cents to fund reel rewinds for future shows.
