Friends Service secretary Rosemarie Allen announced the postponement of the February 7 event to begin March 7. Most speakers from the earlier date are expected to attend.
Joseph T. Meade of Dobbs Ferry N Y will join the Cornell staff March 1 as lecturer in personnel administration and industrial relations He has long ties to CornellMt Vernon circles and has worked in personnel roles for Guaranty Trust Canada Dry Sheffield Milks and Mack Truck Co Mrs Meade sister of Mrs D A Van Metre directed physical education for women at Cornell from 1924 to 1927
Ed Weismiller, class of 1939, a noted Cornell poet, has published The Faultless Shore and Other Poems. A former Rhodes Scholar at Oxford, he taught English at Harvard and served as a Marine lieutenant. The volume reflects his war and travel experiences with simple, rhythmic language.
Two chapel speakers outlined future paths for graduates. Rev. Stanley Trickett spoke on World of Need highlighting Europe's poverty and postwar rehabilitation. Russell Hopley of Northwestern Bell described corporate expectations for young executives and key personal qualities for advancement.
Cornell Registrar lists fifty-two students on the first semester honor roll. twenty-eight men and twenty-four women. Nine earned highest honors, fifteen high honors, and twenty-eight honors. High honors require a 3.0 average, while 2.75 to 2.99 qualify for the honors list. Names include Charles Adrian Kendall Birr Sara Bush Robert Mawthorne and Barbara Ann Smith.
Registrar Walt Gray warns that the final day to add courses is February 22. Names listed include Dorothy Adams Audrey Adrian James Asp Lois Batterham and many others. Honors roll requires at least 12 credit hours and excludes Health and Physical Education required activities. Incompletes are not weighed.
Louis Adamic, renowned for explaining America to Europe and vice versa, appears in the lecture course next week with an 8:00 pm start and a follow up discussion. His work champions immigrant rights and democratic ideals, amid interest from Cornell librarians and readers.

Dress rehearsals for Shakespeare's Hamlet begin this Saturday ahead of performances on March 6 7 and 8 at the Cornell Theatre. Stage equipment and costumes are near completion with technical problems resolved. Cast photographs were taken Wednesday night for distribution to hometown papers and invitations have been sent nationwide. The revival follows a 1941 success drawing local interest from residents and the theater profession.
The book My Songs recounts Negro spirituals and is co authored by Jacques Jolas and Roland Hayes. Hayes a famed tenor who recently added two Jolas pieces to his Cornell recital repertoire and sang for royalty in Buckingham Palace, highlighting his role as a leading Black musician.

Cornellians and townspeople hear violist William Primrose perform in King Chapel at 8 15. The Scotsman plays both a 1630 Antonio Amati viola and a modern 20th century instrument, with a program spanning Bach Debussy Brahms and more. David Stimer accompanies. admission is by student privilege ticket or $1 20.
Ballet Theatre will perform three ballets at Memorial Coliseum Cedar Rapids on February 27 at 8 30 p m. The 80 member troupe previously wowed audiences in London and New York with stars Igor Youskevitch Nora Kaye Hugh Laing and Alicia Alonso. Special student tickets are $1 at Merediths drug store.
An Armstrong exhibition room opens a comprehensive display of early 19th century art balancing classicism romanticism and naturalism. It marks the first time a full century exhibit has been devoted to that era. The show continues after an 18th century collection that ran for two weeks.
