Purple cagers overwhelm Carleton in 87 27 rout

Saalwaechter's Cornell quintet pummeled Carleton with rapid passing and sharp shooting. Raymond and Muilenberg sparked the attack as the Purple defense stifled the Maize and Blue through the second half. Carleton’s Hertz led with six field goals and a free throw.

Class Fives Meet in Fast Struggles

A round of the class basket ball tournament produced wins for seniors over sophomores in both A and B classes. In Class A the seniors beat the sophomores 19 to 9 while the juniors won 36 to 10 against freshmen. In Class B the seniors triumphed 21 to 2 over sophomores and frosh edged juniors 20 to 18.

A Raymond Grant to Speak at Joint YMCA YWCA

A joint YMCA and YWCA meeting is scheduled Thursday at 6 45 p m in the lower chapel. A Raymond Grant 21 recently graduated from the Boston School of Theology will speak in Siens. Devotional services will open the program with plans to have a four man quartet perform a special number.

Chapel Leader Details Near East Plight at Meeting

Miss Katherine McCormick national speaker for Near East Relief described vivid conditions in the Near East during a chapel session yesterday. She seeks financial aid for starving Asiatic orphans, while J E Todd, Robert College veteran, praises relief work supported by sending funds and supplies.

Colonial Couple Ball Set With New Grand March

The Colonial Ball on February 20 in the school gym will feature a revised grand march led by the senior couple chosen by vote. The program replaces the Virginia Reel with a tableaux and a girls dance under Mrs Meade, followed by refreshments. Attendees must participate to view, as the balcony will be closed.

Cornell wrestling team returned Sunday from an east trip with two wins. Friday beat Armour Tech 29 to 0. Saturday defeated Michigan State 17 to 0. Lupton extended undefeated streak with a fall. Van Etten, Otto, Jones, Truckenmiller, Appleton, Midkiff won by decision or fall.

Matmen to meet tutors on Friday in Cedar Falls

The Towa State Teachers wrestling team invades Cedar Falls Friday at 4 00 p m to grapple with the Purple team. White 115 Andrews 135 and Croy light heavyweight all won falls last Saturday and join Bryant Grow chowski Orr and Seivert as likely contenders. Eminent Sculptor to Speak on Art at Cornell Friday

A renowned American sculptor Gutzon Borglum will present the fourth lecture in Cornell College’s course on Friday February 12 at 8 p.m. in the auditorium. Admission is seventy five cents. Borglum, born 1867 in Idaho, trained in Paris under Rodin and later established his New York studio. He is also a painter and author, involved in war era aviation inquiries and known for numerous sculptures.
