Students debate Cornell society life with varied views on social and literary roles. Many call for reorganization to separate social and literary work, widen freshmen inclusion, revive social life, and address membership limits and debates fading from favor.
In a two part game between Mt. Vernon high school and the freshmen team, the high school edged ahead early and both sides scored four points in the second half. Referee Torrance oversaw a chaotic start with timers confused, resulting in a 0 0 score before the Iowa players arrived and time was called.
Jack Evans a former Cornellian and Dy Sart Methodist pastor will headline a Y M C A talk tomorrow evening at 6 40. He will pose What's the matter as the talk theme and share a message aimed at Cornell men. A follow up meeting for college students will be led by evangelist Dr Essert at the Methodist church.
Engineers from the college plan to attend the national cement show in Chicago at the Coliseum next week. The School of Engineering may send upperclassmen if faculty funding is approved. Professor Beebe leads the delegation and Professor Emeritus Williams serves on the organizing committee.
The juniors defeated the freshmen 28 to 12 while the seniors were beaten by the sophomores 21 to 17. The sophomores led 11 to 9 at halftime after altering their lineup and won the game.
Iowa surged to a 16-2 lead early and held off the Tossers as both teams traded blows in a tense matchup. The visitors fought back but could not overturn the early deficit.
Iowa jumped to a 16-2 lead, then withstood Cornell’s second-half surge to win 28-19. Bannick and Von Lackum led Iowa, while Grigsby and Byerly sparked Cornell’s rally. Gethman and Ole stood out for Iowa in a hard fought contest.
