The Men’s Senate updates its campus honor point system to include prominent honorary organizations. A reapportioned scale weighs office prestige, effort, and achievement. A copy is on Main Hall bulletin, with eligibility noting a 11 point minimum and C average for an honor charm.
Prof. F. M. McGaw spoke at the M. E. church last Friday using slides to recount his European journey. The group of nineteen included eight former Cornellians such as Irene Franks and Grace Kidder. Countries visited included France, Switzerland, Germany, Italy, and England.
Dr H J Burgstahler led Sunday evening service at Trinity Church Cedar Rapids with Lucille Indra violin soloist Ruth Fosha organ soloist and F Walter Huffman tenor soloist assisting.
Seventeen students previously not enrolled in the first semester are now registered. Nine are freshmen, four sophomores, four juniors, one senior, and one graduate student. Freshmen include Herrick, Jackson, Landis, Midkiff, Pratt, Rosengren, Schuller, Seargent, and Webster. Sophomores are Fordyce, Fry, Lutze, and Wisgerhof. seniors Elam, Mills, Scobey, and Weimerskirch. graduate student Kynett returning for advanced study.
Miss Rigby read verse to a large crowd at the Pfeiffer girls tea Sunday afternoon. Isabelle Rigby, Josephine Odle and Esther Schlue served as the committee of girls for the event.
Professor Littell argues the eighteenth amendment has never been legally disproved by a long line of technical decisions. He notes past enforcement laws faced criticism yet remained technically legal and constitutional. He warns a Supreme Court reversal would be a revolutionary move by the elderly judges.
Cornell barterers stage irregular gatherings to trade worn clothing using wampum as currency in a self governed system. Two unwritten laws ban money and grant “rib ber” status for friendly jibes as discussions stretch for hours.
Representatives from all social groups are asked to meet in the Art studio Thursday evening at 7 o'clock. Arrangements are to be made at that time for group pages in the Royal Purple.

The Girls Glee club returned to First Methodist Episcopal church in Iowa City to a full house. This final year concert precedes the group becoming an opera club. Soloists included Margaret Miller Adelaide Ports Leona Moulton and Harold Baltz.
Miss Marguerite Leutenegger oversees updated social rooms where new couples form at dances on Tuesdays and Thursdays and free kitchen facilities let students make candy or popcorn. About fifty heard the New York Symphony last Sunday and the Lucky Strike orchestra that evening. Rudy Wakes performs Thursday, Amos n Andy airs weekly, and Saturdays 9 to 10 feature a Chicago Civic Opera act. A ping pong tournament is planned with Paul Hickman handling entrants and the draw.
The third number of the college lecture course will be on Thursday evening February 12 when English actor W L Granville presents a lecture recital titled Dramatic Interludes He will discuss the history of the drama ancient and modern and recite representative selections He will perform multiple parts during the talk A surprise birthday party honored Prof E E Moots on Saturday January 31 Guests included Prof and Mrs J B Culbertson Prof and Mrs T W Mathews and Prof and Mrs M E Hutchinson Snapdragons and pink tapers decorated the tables.
The English literature and composition course for secondary students will meet from 2 30 to 4 30 on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons this term.
Two Cornell gospel teams traveled to Bertram Wyoming for weekend services. The Florin Leewright Reynolds Anderson group preached on A Sketch of College Life and The Good Samaritan with Roscoe Anderson and others conducting morning and evening services. The Palomia Berry Allshouse Caldwell team led singing with Palomia soloing and Marriet accompanying.
Miss Ruth Fosha a senior and skilled pianist organist will play an organ recital Wednesday evening February 11 at 6 40 in the chapel She conducts the regular Sunday music program at the Methodist Episcopal church in Lisbon and is an accomplished student in piano and organ.
Regular spring tryouts for pledgeship to the Purple Masquers Cornell's dramatic group will be held on February 26 and 27 in Prof. Earl Beem's classroom. Participants must select an approved merit play and deliver a three minute reading while cue parts are read by another.
The slide rule class will meet Friday at one o'clock instead of Monday to avoid conflicts.
The Maine legislator Roy L. Fernald, though not teaching in a Cornell classroom, urged tax proposals before the Augusta Kiwanis. He sought a tax on national bank savings deposits to boost state revenues and called attention to the heavy burden of property taxes in government.
Cornell College will hold its seventy eighth annual commencement on June 8 with Dr Charles W Gilroy dean of the University of Chicago chapel delivering the address. Gilroy, a noted minister, has served as university preacher at Harvard Yale Princeton Cornell Wellesley Stanford and Purdue.

Two new instructors begin duties at Cornell for the new term. Miss Jeanette Heinrich from Pilot Mound Missouri and a State University of Iowa graduate joins home economics in place of Miss Ferne A Griffith. Chester Higley of Boston Massachusetts starts economics class work until spring vacation when Prof Roy L Fernald returns from Maine.
A humorous campus note from Cornell describes a gossip club that moved from secret society to open status. Pledges require one spicy gossip item, with social acceptance tied to spreading whispers. The piece mentions Mildred McMillan visiting Tampico, Illinois, last weekend.
An article in the Monthly Weather Review covers Willard Stewart, class of 1930, detailing his rain and snow analysis work conducted at Cornell under Dr. Knight.
