Messiah Theme Discussed In Chapel On Campus

Professor JF Walter Huffman led a chapel session featuring excerpts from the Messiah. He noted the Sunday performance, with about 135 students in the chorus and roughly 30 in the orchestra. Cheer leader Chris Huigen urged cheers for the basketball games against I S T C and Augustana.

Bracelet Presented to Miss Pinkerton at Tea

Miss Ruth Pinkerton received a white gold filigree bracelet set with crystals from the Womens Glee Club at an informal tea in the Social Room on Tuesday afternoon December 10 from four to six. Kiddie Book to Be Out Monday at Cornell

The annual Cornell Kiddie Book edited by Clyde Tull from the English Club will publish Monday in a limited edition. It features thirty two pages of verse stories and drawings with many young artists contributing and a linoleum cover by Nelta Tregloan. It includes stories from other lands retold by Cornellians abroad and poems by twelve year old boys. Reservations can be made at the English office before release.

Freshmen Lead Fall Basketball Tryout Surge

Many freshmen join daily practices as the season opens with A and B teams planned for each class and tournaments in both. Tryouts will continue after Christmas vacation, and all class years are urged to attend.

Augies and Peds Face Local Cagers in Cedar Falls Clash

Cornell meets State Teachers in a Friday the thirteenth basketball clash at Cedar Falls. The game starts a weekend of double headers ending with Augustana at home Saturday night. Coach Dean has sharpened passing and may alter the lineup to boost the offense after a poor showing against Northwestern.

Cast Named for Pinafore at Cornell Musical Comedy

After a week of tryouts the first rehearsal is announced for Monday for the Gilbert and Sullivan operetta with a January 18 production target. The cast totals 43 with eight principals and choruses. Vincent Roach to lead as Ralph Rackstraw. his Cornell Musical Comedy debut and final appearance before graduation.

Intramural Jousts Continue Saturday

The second series of intramural basketball games starts Saturday at 1 15 pm. In B division Sophomores face Freshmen while Juniors meet Seniors in A division. Last week Juniors beat Seniors in B and Sophomores beat Freshmen in A. Games are eight minutes per quarter under intramural manager Hillis Guild.
