Organ Used First Time In Recital At Chapel

Messiah concert fills Cornell chapel with guests

More than 290 seats are reserved for Handel s Messiah at Cornell chapel next Sunday afternoon at 3. Harold W Baltz conducts the twenty seventh annual performance. Visitors from Cedar Rapids Marion Lisbon Iowa City Davenport and nearby areas plan to attend. The chorus has met thrice and the orchestra seven times with soloists rehearsing tomorrow afternoon. Credit for the string section goes to Mrs Helen Cumming.

Journalists To Edit Local Paper Soon

The Cornell college journalism students will publish the Mount Vernon Hawkeye Record next semester under an agreement with editor James McCutcheon. They plan additional local papers and a pre Christmas student journalism dinner with a guest speaker.

First Sibylline Annual Published at Cornell Iowa 1888

The Sibylline, first college annual printed in Iowa, appeared in 1888 at Cornell College. Early in January an exhibition for Soap Sculpture sent by the Proctor and Gamble Company will be on display here. The Federated Women's Club sponsors the traveling display now in its third or fourth year, with Ingle side and the Cornell Art Club of Mount Vernon arranging to bring it for students of this art.
