Nine freshmen with Prof and Mrs Stinard attended a six course banquet at Montrose hotel. Speakers Henry Chase and Margaret Meisner led sketches while Oscar Allanson chaired the evening. Post banquet, 75 reserved seats at the Majestic were used before all returned safely. Upcoming Winter term officers for Miltonians and class 1916 were named including Antone Johnson and William Hepner.
Regular varsity basketball practice slows until after New Year while the class series takes focus. Varsity men may enter. first intercollegiate game slated for mid January. Schedule lists pairings by date and class levels from December 13 to December 18.
At the Cornell Club of Chicago reunion and banquet the officers for 1913 were elected: president R. J. Math er, vice president Dr. Mary Mc Ewan, secretary Sara A. Brown, treasurer Grant C. Miller, executive committee members Mary Hanna Barker Charles H. Seaman Pearl Pierce Stein Dr. Harlan Updegraff George Martin Gertrude Gadsden Strawson and Frank Armstrong. Extras included remarks by Wm. F. King James E. Harlan H. H. Rood S. N. Williams and John Stout.
Gustaf Holmquist has established himself among the ablest basses in the United States in recent years. His voice is rich and sympathetic with wide range, suited to oratorio festival performances song recitals and private musicales.
Prof. Norton presented an illustrated travelogue In the Heart of the Rockies to the largest Science Club audience of the year. The slideshow featured 100 views from the Garden of the Gods to Bridal Veil Falls, plus explanations of glaciers, canyons, and volcanic dikes.
Ralph Ege 13 hosted Amphic brothers for his twenty first birthday with twenty one guests at a banquet. The table groaned with escalloped oysters chicken baked beans and a salad. Waitresses Maude Browning and Hazel Eye served the feast.
A large number of Cornell students and alumni teaching in high schools will follow Professor Albert Mason Harris back to the summer program. Harris, director of the School of Oratory at Vanderbilt, will teach three courses including Dramatic Literature High School Forensics and Shakespeare interpretation, marking a notable addition for Cornell.

The State Oratorical Association reshapes judging to assess general effectiveness. Two district contests set for February 7 1918 at Coe College Cedar Rapids and Leander Clark Toledo, each with eight colleges. The top four from each district advance to the March 1 1913 Des Moines final. Participating colleges include Coe Lenox Leander Clark Tabor Penn Buena Vista Cornell Des Moines Iowa Wesleyan Central University and Morningside.
Sunday afternoon at 4 o'clock the Y M and Y W C A began vesper services in the auditorium replacing the regular evening church service. The program featured organ preludes and solos, religious readings, and prayers by Prof Betts, Miss Graham, Miss Carlton, Mr Lohr and Hazel Ege. Vespers occur about once per month with Guy Aldrich scheduled next month.
Announcement states Albert E. Coe class of 1909 and Anna May Deremer class of 1910 will wed in Bedford Iowa on December 4 Both studied at Cornell University and will reside at Oasis Iowa after the ceremony
