The faculty and trustees report the Cornell social problem remains unchanged from a week ago. A unanimous chapel resolution commends students for restraint at the Sans Souci dance while noting the misstep in defying tradition. The panel urges united effort of students faculty and trustees to find an acceptable solution without police intervention.
In the 1925-26 second semester, the Prometheans hold top grade averages, with the first three places taken by women’s societies and the last three by men’s. The Par menans top the men’s group, while all women’s societies outperform the men’s.
A library screen shows a group of madonnas by various artists. The exhibit may interest those who enjoy Christmas pictures or wish to learn more about them.
Don Farran will read his column verse and discuss his satirical friends at an English Club dinner tomorrow night at The Grill. He writes in a light vein and is known for verse in many periodicals and a WGN radio broadcast last night. Students may sign the English Club office list to attend.
The Methodist Sunday School will hold special Christmas exercises next Sunday morning. All college students are cordially invited to attend. The high school glee clubs will sing and Burton F. Tarr will read.
General Umberto Nobile said he conceived using a dirigible to reach the north pole, with Norge preparations at Spitzbergen and routes planned by him. He contrasted his plan with Amundsen's route and recounted the journey from Rome to London, Oslo, and Leningrad before setting out May 11 from Spitzbergen.
Handel's The Messiah, composed in 24 days in 1741, is featured at Cornell in the chapel on the hill this Sunday afternoon for the twenty second time. The work, famed for its grand chorus and solo arias, traces the foretold birth, Christ’s life, and triumphal exaltation with famous numbers like Comfort Ye My People.
Professor W H Norton told a Milwaukee YMCA audience that the day the United States Senate rejected joining the League of Nations was the most shameful in American history. He urged U S participation in the World Court and League as a final step toward peaceful human relations and critiqued Darwinistic and nationalist war views.
The Cornell college band led by EK B McElhinney of Cedar Rapids performs its first indoor concert of the season Saturday at 8 p.m. in the chapel auditorium. Admission is 35 cents. The 86 member group features players in multiple sections and a printed program lists diverse selections and a vocal quartet.
Milton Babcock editor of the 1928 Royal Purple asks students with misspelled names in the directory to submit correct spellings before Christmas recess to ensure accurate year book records.
Cornell offers its 22nd annual Messiah on Sunday at 3 pm with the large chorus of 175, the college orchestra led by Horace Alden Miller, and soloists including John L. Conrad Ruth Pinkerton Anna Burmeister and Herbert Gould. Doors open 2 15 pm reserved seats held to 2 45 pm and audience pays 25 cents to a dollar.
Captain Aja Johnson may join the starting five for Judd Dean’s first college lineup against State Teachers. If unable, McCullen takes his spot. Lew Hord anchors defense with Janky Muilenberg at pivot and Barney Kasch back at forward. Hither Adams son or Dickoff to play opposite post. Game starts 7 30.
The Clef club announces its December meeting will be a dinner and program at Jordan House on Monday December 13 at 6 p m. Miss Pinkerton will contribute a Christmas number Anna May Davis will speak on Christmas carols and a girls quartet will provide additional music.
