Committee Named to Hire Architect for Chemistry Building
The Cornell Board of Trustees executive committee selected a building committee to hire an architect and plan the Chemistry building to rise on campus. Members include President Harlan Updegraff as chairman, E. B. Willis, J. B. Todd, and H. F. Lewis. The site chosen is southeast of the Law Memorial near the heating plant. The committee will meet after the president’s return from Canada.

The annual Messiah performance at Cornell airs Sunday at 3 p m marking its twenty first presentation. Handel rapid output is noted with the oratorio first shown in Dublin in 1742. Three choruses and a new selection will be performed with forthcoming rehearsals midweek and Saturday.

Eighteen Gridmen Awarded Football Letters at Cornell
Eighteen varsity football players received the Cornell football letter this afternoon after an athletic board meeting. Crabtree Wilson Kuehn and McGrath will receive sweaters. seven players earned their first C including Crabtree Midkiff Wilson Kuehn McGrath Muilenberg and Schutte. Muilenberg earned three letters in two semesters, winning in basketball and track previously. Pushball Contest Postponed to Early Next Week
Faculty request postpones the pushball game from last Saturday and moves it to the early part of next week. Intensive practice on The Messiah and risk to voices plus other reasons prompted the delay. Players hope for fair weather for the class scrap.
PIANIST PLEAS IN RECITAL AT CORNELL CHAPEL
E Robert Schmitz the French pianist of distinction gave a Cornell audience a memorable recital in the chapel auditorium last Friday evening. His program included Bach Chopin Debussy Franck Borodine and Liszt with encores. he also lectured Friday afternoon on the inter relation of the fine arts. Despite a blizzard a large audience felt repaid for two hours with one of the modern masters of the piano. The concluding artist course will feature the Letz String Quartet on Tuesday March 9.
