Seven Beauties Selected for 1936 Royal Purple Yearbook

Seven Cornell beauties Irene Bragg Margaret Fussell Margaret Hedges Virginia Hughes Janet Sharp Kathryn Swain and Anna Mary Wilson were chosen by a four faculty five student committee for the 1936 Royal Purple. A local judge will view in person to reduce photography bias and determine first second and third places among the seven finalists.

Cornell students chosen to judge high school play contests

Cornell students have been selected to judge the preliminary Orre-act play contests in Jones county high schools. Last week judges Guthrie Aluson Shoemaker oversaw Morley. Glenn Low Trubbock Weber will judge at Martello on December 5 and Wyoming on December 6. Professor Clyde Tull will select the best surviving play.

Clark And Barber In Auto Accident Near Shannon

Two Cornell freshmen Glenn Clark and Wayne Barber were slightly injured when their car overturned near Shannon on Friday night. Barber’s father and a friend were also in the vehicle but no serious injuries were reported.

Carnegie Honors Dr Cooper's Book

Dr Russell Cooper learns the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace will purchase 625 copies of his book American Consultation in World Affairs. The Endowment selects about 18 or 20 international relations works yearly and distributes them to International Relations clubs at colleges and universities. Copies go out in February.

December Husk Released Soon on Campus

The December Husk magazine will be released Thursday on campus. It features a green and red linoleum cover by Mark Mirich and a long list of contributors led by David Fuller Ash. New writers include Alice Riley Harriet Porter Louise Rich Adelaide Flexner Dorothy Downs and Milton Schwab.

Latin Club Sets December Virgil Discussion at Hutchinson Home

Sunday vesper service at 3 45 features three Miracle plays in rehearsal this week. Tims Is Honored At Columbia U

Richard Tims of 34, pursuing post graduate study at Columbia University, served as concertmeister of the Columbia Symphony Orchestra last week. He stepped in when the regular concertmeister was unavailable during the dedication of the university’s new library. President Nicholas Murray Butler presided in scarlet and gray satin.

Olive June Lacey soprano Ruth Pinkerton alto and Francis German tenor will perform the solo parts in the 31st presentation of The Messiah at Cornell in the chapel on Sunday December 16. Lacey will make her third appearance with the Cornell oratorio society. The tenor part remains to be filled.

Wright vision for Taliesin school of arts and leadership

Architect and philosopher Frank Lloyd Wright spoke informally after a Taliesin lecture at Prof Clyde Tulls. He stressed heredity and talent, the trial first year for students, loyalty, and a close-knit coed environment with six girls and three married couples. He outlined Taliesins aim to build leaders through hands on study rather than textbooks.
