The Aonan-Amphic hall hosted a Saturday eve event by the Romans with orchestra, refreshments, carnations, palms, and drawing-room setup. Guests from students faculty and town attended. hosts and reception delegates welcomed all, as chairs and corners offered a relaxed ambiance and candlelight charm.

A Band Again Cornell Plans Spring Band Leadership

Harold Wilcox, former student and local artist, will lead a new Cornell brass band this spring. The first rehearsal occurred Monday night in the day chapel as the group aims to boost support at upcoming ball games. The school has ample instrumental talent and seeks more players to join the effort.

Drake Relays Preliminaries Run In Cold Drake Meet

Drake Relay Meet preliminaries were held despite a chilly wind. The four mile relay saw Walker win in 4 58 with Macey Fackler and Thompson close behind. Mason challenged Manly in the half mile relay and Woodward in the mile relay, but was beaten. Cornell will be represented at Des Moines next Saturday by the four mile relay team Walker plus teammates.

Cornell Grades Show Wide Professor Variations in A Rates

A university study audited 9 300 grades from three and a half years excluding Normal Physical Training and College Life and Work. It found A rates vary sharply by professor from 16 to 50 percent and overall A and B proportions cluster around 35 to 40 percent A and 45 percent B.

Spirit of Spring Vesper Service At Cornell

The YW and YMCA held a monthly Vesper Service with Prof. Lamale’s organ prelude, violin by Mr. Aylesworth, and Prof. Conrad’s solo. Prof. Stout spoke on leadership, contrasting self serving and service minded leaders. Cornell students were urged to answer the call of need with vision and human life.

For Old Yale Seen by Lisbon Citizens

Saturday evening the Gladstones and Clips presented the play For Old Yale at the Lisbon Opera House to a fair sized audience. The first two acts were well done with new stunts while the last two lagged, the cast seeming short of pep due to limited audience appreciation.

Hazel Ege Presents Graduation Recital at Hepner

Miss Hazel Ege gave her first graduation recital in oratory Tuesday afternoon at four o clock. She performed three parts from Gilbert Parkin's The Battle of the Strong, a humorous The Necessary Evil, and Romola in a dramatic library scene with Hepner as Malana. The stage featured flowers and rugs and a fair audience praised the high quality of the recital.

Knox and Beloit Debate Immigration Illiteracy Test

The Knox debating squad meets Cornell on Friday in the auditorium to argue immigration should be restricted by an illiteracy test. Cornell sends Ralph Berry Myron Wilcox and Allan Hogle. opponents include ElRey C Wampler Ralph Lucas and Paul R Tatlock. A Beloit trip follows with Raymond Harrington Boyd Walker and Robert Tone debating Friday night.

Practice Games Highlight Cedar Rapids Varsity Loss and Injury

Cedar Rapids Central Association team won 9 to 3 in the first of three practice games as Hill used three pitchers and Byerly pitched the full game for the varsity. Artie Baird sprained his ankle sliding into third after a three-base hit, likely out for a week.
