A campus group called The Owls includes 13 student members and four adults. They meet secretly and used a Cedar River Country Club cabin with access for students and faculty. Cornell administration had not released further details at press time.
Orchesis presents a dance program tomorrow night at 8 15 in the Little Theatre Armstrong Hall Cornell tickets 25 cents six numbers include Sarabande and Gigue by Desportes with Cornell clarinet quartet. Aeschylus Agamemnon and Cassandra by Miriam Jerebek feature solos and choruses. College Life a Lois Nelson satire offers four years at Cornell. The two seniors Jaclyn Stalen and Priscilla Beacom perform a duet Self. Musical Spellbound enhances the program with choreography by Orchesis. Participants include Pris Beacom Dorothy Rourke Mary Jean Browning Char Farnham Marilyn Gray Lois Nelson Norma Parks Judy Philipp Ruth Roloff Dinny Soper Jaclyn Stalen Pris Toppen Gloria Williams Ann Young.
The Cornell choir closed its 1949 tour with a one hour Sunday concert in King Memorial chapel. The program included two Palestrina works for double choir, three Bach choruses, romantic pieces, an American piece by William Schuman, and a Shaw spiritual arrangement. Mary Lou Long sang Prelude and Sam Minasian played Scherzo Tarentello during intermission. Joanne Curnutt and Betty Bates accompanied. The tour spanned eight concerts in five days ending April 1 in Freeport. a minor incident occurred in Dixon, Illinois where several choir members had billfolds stolen but later returned without cash.
Campus calendar outlines daily events including performances lectures clubs and services from Friday April 15 to Friday April 22. Notable items include an Oratorio and dance recital at the Little Theatre, Sunrise service on Pfeiffer Hill, joint recital in the chapel, Miss Ortha Lane and Dr Milton Mayer lectures, Red Cross instruction, and ensemble concerts in chapels and lounges.
Cornell's new male chorus makes its debut joining woodwind groups for an April 22 recital at 7 30 in King Memorial chapel. Delinda Roggensack directs as Koepke leads three chamber groups in a program featuring Milhaud and Ibert works, plus spirituals and Meadowlands.
Wilbur Warne West, head of the art department, attended the Western Arts convention in Dallas during March 23 to 26. The annual gathering, hosted by the Western Arts association, drew participants from 28 states and covered sculpture, ceramics, jewelry, lithography, and design with guest speaker Richard Neutra. Representatives from across western America attended.
Cornell Oratorio society under Jac ques Jolas rehearses Brahms German Requiem for the May Festival on May 7 with 150 voices, Tauno Hannikainen guest conducting, and soloists Mack Harrell and Nancy Carr. The program opens with Handel and Haydn works in the first half.
All summer school room and work assignments are to be handled by Mr. Macaulay in the admissions office. Arrangements must be made to facilitate the moving of students from outside when summer session starts.
Dr Merle Curti of Wisconsin will speak at the annual Phi Beta Kappa dinner held Tuesday April 19 in the Montrose hotel with Charles A Beard American Scholar as topic. He will also present at the chapel program Wednesday morning April 20.
World known journalist Mayer is slated to lecture in the chapel next Monday as part of a career guidance series sparked by student demand. A campus careers conference last week drew over 60 experts across 16 fields to advise students on vocations after graduation.
A campus campaign seeks freshmen to write for a freshman edition of the CORNELLIAN. Natalie Dupuis, editor, will hold a meeting in South Hall publicity office at 2:30 p.m next Tuesday to elect the staff. The edition could publish within two weeks and will include features beyond straight news.
Mil ton Mayer renowned young writer and thinker from Chicago will speak in the Cornell chapel Monday at 815. A Chicago native and University of Chicago alumnus, Mayer has written for major newspapers and magazines in the United States and Europe and serves as visiting professor at William Penn College.
Mrs. Margaret Jones Williams, assistant professor of education, will leave Sunday April 17 for Salt Lake City Utah to attend the Association of Childhood Education convention. The subject will be discussed by a national committee with a pre conference breakfast. Dr Alberta Murhus, formerly at Cornell and now at the University of Denver, will also attend.
The Chicago Sunday Tribune highlights Cornell College Mt Vernon in an eleventh year Cornell feature. Photographers Andrew Pavlin and Miss Mary Skaggs gathered campus life data and produced Rotogravure pictures for the Graphic section.
The Mt Vernon branch of the American Association of University Women will host a party for senior women in the social rooms on April 21 at 8 00 pm. Mrs Betty Starr, president, announced the annual event. Miss Rogansack and Mrs Margaret Cunningham planned the program. refreshments will follow. Invitations go to college women graduating in June.

The Armstrong College art department displays a fine series of small imported French prints. Curator Wilbur Warne West calls them exceptionally good featuring modern painters such as Chagall Picasso Braque Matisse Flaminck and Van Gogh. The works are shown in the art lecture room.
