The county woke to heavy snowfall last Sunday shaping a drought‑relief forecast. The editorial urges farmers to plant and cultivate, noting moisture will boost crops, support returning soldiers, and aid feeding a hungry world with Union County’s sturdy workers ready to act.
A 1917 Union County New Mexico letter urges local organizations to mobilize for war effort. It notes a $25,000,000 federal seed appropriation, calls for a planning meeting, and asks for organized, representative farmer committees to report seed needs and conditions, with county leaders advising on price controls and seed distribution. Announcement from headquarters says the Marine Corps seeks trained men in electrical mechanical aviation and automotive engineering with incentives for those who join. All recruits must undergo preliminary military and naval training before placement in suitable roles.
