Tragic Duck Camp Accident Claims 9-Year-Old Boy in Oklahoma
A nine year old, Frank G Brophy, at a home ranch near Clayton Oklahoma, accidentally shot himself in the head with a 12 gauge shotgun during a duck hunting outing. The gun stock broke when he fell, killing him instantly. The funeral is planned for Sunday at his grandfather’s home near Clayton, and the community extends sympathy to the bereaved family.

District Court Adopts Adjourment After Four-Week Term
The district court adjourned late Saturday afternoon after a four week term dominated by the Martines versus Vigil civil case over an estate. The jury ruled for Martines. Sentences were handed to W. F. Pruitt for manslaughter eight to ten years. Ed Jones, the man who shot Jiron, received nine to ten years. Mrs. Goodwin, under a suspended two year sentence since September 1943, was ordered to the penitentiary. Several others were sentenced for minor offenses before adjournment. Police arrested ten men in a raid on an alleged gambling resort and set bonds of one to two thousand dollars for the next term.
