Well Known Butcher Dies After Operation In Clayton
JW Walker a longtime butcher at the Wherritt store died Thursday night after an appendicitis operation. His mother arrived from Reserve Kansas before his death. He leaves a widow and one child and is survived by his father and mother and other relatives in Reserve. The local Fellows lodge aided with funeral arrangements.

One of the era’s most elaborate openings occurred at the Otto Johnson store in Clayton last Saturday afternoon and evening. The department store was lavishly decorated and remained open until nine with crowds all day. A three piece orchestra provided music during the festivities.
