H H Errett certifies apportionment of Union County New Mexico General School Fund on July 15, with a total of 3081.60 dollars. The per capita rate is 60 cents and allocations are distributed to county districts. The document reflects annual school funding procedures and per capita calculations.
Two lightweight boxers Smith and Raver battled ten rounds to a draw before a large crowd at the Dixie. Smith held a weight advantage but both fighters showed grit with Lawrence Racer gaining late momentum in rounds nine and ten. Promoter Billy Lynch plans a rematch and seeks a Trinidad opponent for the sixteenth amid a horse race against Bright and Nuttall.
Herzstein will rebuild the Herzstein store area with Patton and Hunter to erect a large concrete business building on the site of the old store that burned about a year ago. The one story structure will span 100 feet by 60 feet with three business rooms and a basement. A sixty foot front will house a theatre fitted in modern style. Asa and Cecil Ellis of the Pasamonte country were in the city for a business visit Friday and Saturday.
A list of the grand and petit jurors summoned for the September term of district court is provided. Names of the jurors appear as the Good Men and True selected for service.
A New York note outlines a silver plaque bearing Charles Becker murdered July 30, 1915 by Governor Whitman. The plate, four by seven inches, is described with script letters an inch high and is securely fastened. Mrs Hecker says she sought a reprieve from the governor, who denied it.

London dispatch relays Berlin text in which Emperor Wilhelm II defends Germany’s war aims. He claims a defensive, not conquest driven, conflict and praises unity, resilience, and endurance of the German people amid heavy battles and naval clashes. He asserts enemies cannot break Germany’s economic standing or resolve.
A large crowd attended the Old Settlers Picnic at Kvane Grove south of town on Thursday. Judge J D Cutlip of Tucumcari gave the principal address about Union county’s development, joined by Jon G G Smith and A das McDonald who spoke briefly. Mrs W G Heald of Davenport Iowa visits her mother Mrs M A Wilberg. Several locals were noted in town for various chores and social visits.
U S and Pan American diplomats meet in Washington to frame a plan for restoring peace in Mexico. The group, led by Secretary Lansing, aims to establish a provisional government and halt warfare with the goal of constitutional rule and Mexico sovereignty. Additional nations may join after the initial talks.
The Kansas Picnic Association invites all locals to a Saturday August 21 gathering in the grove north of Big Spring on the mesa road. The third annual jollification features races sports and a ball game with possibly Clayton band. A refreshment stand amusements and a music program are planned. Bring dinner baskets. 1. In Oyster Bay on August 3 Theodore Roosevelt issued a statement regarding New York Progressive leaders who planned to enroll as Republicans. He praised their three year fight for progressive principles, said he would enroll as a Progressive, and advised others to do the same. Capt. T. Snyder made a business trip to Texline Friday.
