Prairie Fire Rages Across Countryside South of Clayton
A far reaching prairie fire swept the area south of Clayton last Saturday and continued for days. Originating about fifteen miles south of town, strong Sunday winds pushed it east and southeast toward Hereford Texas. Despite days of effort, crews could not halt its progress while gale force winds blew. Barns houses hay and feed were destroyed with no loss of life reported to date.

The town honored Mr. Robert Isaacs with a big Saturday dance to celebrate his new mammoth implement and warehouse. John Hill led as master of ceremonies while Bristol's Orchestra played as Uncle Bob and his wife opened the event with a lively march before a crowd that filled the town. The skating party for children drew about four hundred attendees and extra candy was needed to meet demand.

Obituary of Charles Campbell Dies at Son's Home in New Mexico
Charles Campbell born 1886 in North Alabama died March 1 1916 at the home of his son R M Taylor in Guy New Mexico. He married Elizabeth Savage Sept 22 1871 and had five children four living. Funeral attended by son and one daughter Mrs Deatheridge. two daughters in Texas absent. Campbell served four years in the Civil War under McCullough and Bragg. He joined the Missionary Baptist church early and remained a member. He moved to Texas in 1858, returned to Alabama during the war, then to Fannin County Texas until about a year ago when he moved to New Mexico. Funeral at Pleasant Hill school house conducted by Rev H G Hardway with notable singing and many mourners. Pallbearers named Meusra.
