Washington announces a nationwide rail strike set to begin at 7 a.m. on Monday. Letters issued to 640 district chairmen of the four train crew brotherhoods outline strict regulations for strikers, including how to handle roll calls and meetings, and condemn violence.
Members met last Sunday to organize their Sunday school and elect teachers and officers. Sunday school meets every Lord's Day at 10 o'clock. All members are urged to assist with the work while preaching services await a minister.
The Clayton Public School plans a 9 o'clock Monday start on September 4 for classification registration and text book distribution. The First Primary will meet at the Christian Church while other grades gather in their classrooms with all pupils expected.
Judge Leib selects a long list of grand and petit jurors for the upcoming court term opening Monday. Names include John Spring, Francisco Gallegos, Eliseo Padilla, John Becker, Jane de Baca, George Gaylord, Candalario Archuleta, and many others.
