Corn Belt Bank Closes Under Cash Exhaustion
The Corn Belt National Bank of Scotland failed to open last Saturday as cash was exhausted. The suspension, not due to insolvency, came with $413,639 in loans and discounts, $147,000 borrowed from the Federal Reserve, and notes coming due. Federal examiners will decide if the bank can reopen, with assets sufficient to cover liabilities. No deposits will be lost. The incident follows reports about Magnusen paper which are denied.

Vaclav Nedved died January 12 from pneumonia at his Lakeport home and was buried in the Nedved cemetery after services at his home led by A Dvorsk. born December 19, 1850 in Bohemia, he came to the U S in 1867 with his family and later homesteaded near Lakeport. survived by wife Misa Mary Kocourek, five sons and three daughters. Jim Kauhal narrowly escaped asphyxiation under a running car Wednesday afternoon. Dr Blezek attended. John Wellek of Scotland visited family in town last week, including son Charles and daughter Mrs John Hatwan.

Irene and Meta Schumacher weekend in Scotland with sister Nettie. A farewell party for Paul Wildermuth Sunday at W Mikuska home with about thirty five relatives and friends. Wildermuth leaves Monday for Lodi, California, where the Ledger understands he will make his home.
