Death of P A Bliss editor shocks Scotland SD
The Scotland Journal reports the sudden death of P A Bliss editor of the Citizen-Republican from heart failure about ten o'clock Friday. Born 1861 in New York, Bliss settled in South Dakota, edited Wolsey Journal, then bought the Citizen-Republican in 1894 and led it for 26 years. He was a longtime Scotland mayor, Republican, Presbyterian, and active community figure with a wide reading interest. Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Presbyterian church with burial at Rosehill.

Funeral services for Mr. Bliss were held Tuesday at 2 PM from the Presbyterian church. Rev. Hayden R. Upton of Worthington Minn, former pastor of Scotland Presbyterian church, delivered a personal yet fitting address. Music by Prof. R E Williams, Miss Laura Johnston, Mrs. Emma Catton, Leroy Haynes, and pianist Mrs. Devine. Upton sang Saving Grace. Pall bearers included J R Wilson, Wm H Miller, Z L Meighen, I W Leighton, C J Dickson, and F L Wheeler, all connected with The Corn Bell National Bank and Peoples Telephone Company where Bliss served as president.
