Scotland city awards water mains contract at 87775

The extension of Scotland's water mains was let to Pittsburgh-Des Moines Construction Co for 87775. Work to begin June 15 and finish August 15. City saves about 5000 on iron costs and accepts bonds at par instead of cash, aided by strong competition among 22 bidders from multiple cities.

Grand Matron Visits Augusta O E S Chapter

The Associate Grand Matron Mrs Luis Wanzer of Armour visited the Augusta Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star on April 4. Young Man Hurt Crossing Street Injured in Hit and Run

A 16 year old, Alton Paton, was struck by a speeding car two blocks south of the post office on Thursday. Robbie Sweet drove the vehicle, dragged the youth about 20 feet, then stopped. Paton suffered fractures in an arm and leg, several broken ribs, facial bruises, and internal injuries. Dr Leighton attended. His condition is serious.

Legion disavows any unlawful actions over Tripp cattle

The American Legion post in Bon Homme county met in Tyndall on March 30 and passed a unanimous resolution denying any Legion involvement in the recent shipment dispute from Tripp South Dakota. Death Claims Two Well Known Scotland Women

Mrs Julia Zolnowsky longtime resident of Scotland died Monday afternoon at 1 0 0 0 percent age 80 years 2 months 23 days. Born in Prosperid she emigrated to Africa in 1857 then Milwaukee before homesteading in Bon Homme County South Dakota. Family notes four sons Frank Mike Steve and Jake all reside here except Frank in Andes. two daughters May Celmer of Chicago Theresa Shumsky of Sanger ND. Husband died 1914. Funeral in Catholic church conducted by Rev Father Sokk with all children present except Mrs Celmer due to illness.

Death Notice for Mrs Eugene Schneider in Scotland City

Mrs Eugene Schneider died Friday April 1 after a long illness in this city. Marion McKay, born October 28 1881 near Scotland, married Eugene C Schneider on May 10 1911 and lived with her mother Mrs McKay. She was active in the Presbyterian church and is survived by her mother husband four nieces and many relatives. Funeral services were held Monday at the Presbyterian church, Rev H A Upton of Worthing officiated and burial was at Rosehill cemetery. Out of town relatives listed include Genege Schneider of Washington Iowa Mrs Jackson of Iowa Mr and Mrs Louis Schneider and family of Yank ton and Mr and Mrs Vinin of Py ndall, Mrs Imov of Lyesterville and Mrs Brug cil daughter of Rapid.
