Chanute marked Decoration Day with a town-wide observance. Businesses closed at noon, graves of old soldiers were decorated, and a parade moved from the end of town to the cemetery, followed by speeches by Hon. C. F. Scott and Senator Farrelly. The jury acquitted the youths after a hard fought case. The incident involved rough play with the Little Dyer boy who suffered a fatal injury.
