Cardigan to Be Shown at Hurce Theater Next Week

Meeting of the Hugh Wilson Corps No 21

An interesting meeting of the W. A. C. was held Saturday afternoon. Mrs. McClurg of Boise attended as inspector and praised the corps work. Commander Martin, Post Adjutant Fawkes and Comrade Keyes spoke, followed by ice cream and cake. The group continues summer tea fundraisers and crafts for convalescent veterans and the Soldiers Home in Boise.

Democrats Start Local Company Rally Discusses State Issues

A crowd of about 150 Democrats met Wednesday evening at city hall to hear George Waters of Weiser and Thompson of Maho Falls discuss campaign goals. Waters attacked the Rxch-Cum railroad law and Burton French’s Mouse Kit No 77, while Thompson covered state affairs and the Democratic critique of the Republican administration. Preston Dills, a local high school boy, underwent an appendectomy and was resting after surgery.

Caldwell Man Struck By Speeding Auto

James Williams of Caldwell Milling and Elevator injured in an accident on the Cate wall Nampa highway while returning to Caldwell. A light machine was pushed into a ditch by a fast car whose driver did not stop. Williams suffered two broken ribs and other bruises but is not in serious condition.

Mc Moore and Baldridge Tour Canyon County Idaho

Republican gubernatorial candidate C C Mc Moore plans a two day visit to Canyon county with Lt. Gov. candidate H C Baldridge. They will tour Apple Valley Arena Valley Steele's Orchard Greenleaf Bowmont Melba and Caldwell areas, with speeches at Parma and Wrangler venues and a return to Caldwell.

Football Players Guests At Kiwanis Luncheon

Hall the College of Idaho football squad were guests Thursday of the Caldwell Kiwanis club at luncheon. Frank Hartkapt spoke of this year's schedule and three home games, urging sideline support. Captain Blake Lowell and Coach Anse Corneil urged players to save their wind. Caldwell Elks head to Emmett for a fall social club dance.

A new development emerged in the Payette Boise Water Users Association dispute as Walter and Griffiths filed a $2500 damages suit for Tom Tarr. They allege a tax lien was wrongfully placed on Tarrs farm after the association failed to collect unpaid assessments, following a prior court ruling favoring Tarr that unpaid levies were not legal until all collection options were exhausted.

Resume Reports On Potato Market

The first daily market report from Idaho Falls by C E Schulte of the Federal Bureau of Markets notes Caldwell leads Idaho in shipped potatoes with 1320 carloads. Statewide shipments total 1855 carloads, down from 2017 last year. Idaho Falls quotes about 60 cents as supply remains limited. The Tuesday report shows Chicago weaker while St Louis and other markets show mixed activity.

Nampa Harvest Festival Draws Caldwell Visitors

Caldwell residents traveled to Nampa Wednesday evening to enjoy the Harvest festival’s second day. Beautiful weather and strong crowds boosted the annual fall show with dancing and amusements as the chief attractions. Mr and Mrs D L Badley of Portland are visiting their son and family at the country home.
