History of the Owyhee Ditch and Henderson Flat water project
A 1904 effort led by W H Schenck formed the Owyhee Ditch and Reservoir Company to reclaim Henderson Flat in Owyhee County Idaho. The Boise Paysette Project plans faced limited water from Succor Creek and a plan to pump Snake River water via Black Canyon power. Citizens formed a district covering 32,669 acres, voting May 15 1908 to pursue dam and pumping works. Proposals included gravity systems at $5 and pumping at $50 per acre with annual maintenance, with competing schemes from One Thousand Springs and Idagon Irrigation. The district expanded to include more lands to prevent interstate disputes. The Idagon plan sought 15,000 acres, claiming $900,000 build cost at $60 per acre for private land. A nine member Parma Caldwell graduating class will march June 10, 1909. Canyon County Chautauqua Alumni formed with 30 diploma holders. Circles exist at Parma Caldwell and prospects at Middleton. Mrs. Charles Oakes oversees new circles, Mrs. H. D. Blatchley runs the study department. Mr. and Mrs. A. Greenland head to Daunt California for winter.

City Council Hears Sebree Franchise Proposals
At a council meeting discussion centered on a 50 year Sebree franchise and possible city terms. A councilman outlined proposed maximum rates for electricity and pumping power, noting he spoke for himself not Mr Sebree and questioned public support for changing the current deal. Water to fill Deer Flat reservoir to begin in December
Caldwell resident W L Girard received a letter from T W Hanna freight engineer on the Payette River Reclamation project. Hanna says the main canal is nearing completion with about 7000 more feet to line and eleven decks under construction. Earth moved in Indian Creek and riprap laid, with widening efforts in the upper canal to boost capacity. Weather permitting, much of the remaining work may be finished this fall, and water is expected to be turned into the canal to fill the Deer Flat reservoir sometime in December. Exact start date not yet set.

W H Fleming nightwatchman on Oregon Short Line yards in Nampa shot in neck by unknown man on freight train. Finnish suspect, a Greek hobo, later holed up at Geo Calkins ranch near Nampa. after siege, he was fatally wounded by gunfire and died. Neighbors chased and fired at fleeing assailant as he escaped.

Burglars Hit New Plymouth Hardware Store
The New Plymouth Hardware and Lumber Co. was burglarized Monday morning with guns valued at 175 dollars taken. Only about 3 dollars remained in the till. Entry was gained by removing a window light between 2 and 4 am. no clues to the burglars. Local residents search for the missing weapons.
