Gleason Faces New Charge In District Court

Frank Gleason, father of Keith Gleason, and accomplice William Crown, faced a new and more serious charge in district court after a midnight party raid on youths. Gleason previously served time for contributing to the delinquency of minors and escaped custody before being recaptured. Evidence included affidavits from two young girls now in a Portland institution. Keith Gleason is serving about ten years for a related offense. Gleason allegedly hid about $150 in gold.

Caldwell Wades Through Meridian in Long Matinee

Caldwell High School faced Meridian in a lengthy baseball matinee at Meridian Park. Johnson pitched for Meridian and led a powerful attack, while Wardley struggled as Caldwell used multiple players in most positions. The contest stretched near regulation length with both teams producing many runs, lingering over an extended four-inning pace.

Window Prize Won by Oakes in Caldwell Display

Oakes Neathers won Caldwell’s window prize, earning 810 cash from the lodge for the best display shown Friday. The Elk colors purple and white dominated, with an immense elk head, purple lights, carnations, white gloves and cherry blossoms. Nearly every shop joined the purple and white theme, including Golden Rule and Clark Hardware, among others praised for their festive windows.

Three Couples Granted Marriage Licenses in Local Court

The county issued marriage licenses to Guy Cable of Albion and Frances Bates of Parma, James Liles and Vesta Powell of Cardwert, and Crist and Gladysack Wood from Midilein, all on Saturday.

Caldwell celebrated lodge No. 448 chartering on Friday with Charles Stewart presiding. Officers elected included J. Johnson exalted ruler and C. J. Weston leading knight, Earle S Boyes secretary, M. Saratoga Hotel Plans for a Modern Four Story Building

Bureau Board To Meet Saturday

The Canyon County Farm Bureau will hold its regular monthly meeting Saturday afternoon in Caldwell. Items include by laws of the Idaho Producers' Union, possible formation of a Cow Vesting Association, a proposed wall fee per head for tested stock, and a review of Idaho Producers Union affairs and finances to date. About forty board members are expected to attend.

Founders Day at College Celebrates Thirteenth Anniversary

Aided by good weather and a large crowd, the thirteenth Founders Day at the College of Idaho featured a campus parade from city hall to the camp, a welcome address by Joly Waele and a senior registration in Sterry Hall. Students earned free dinners and track meet admission, while Dow of Hurley and Mars of Nampa set marks. Cleaver won the mile, and a relay mishap flubbed a win. Evening events included folk dancing, May pole, and performances by the Cobline orchestra and glee clubs before a packed Sterry Hall audience.
