Local Lodges Celebrate for Many Visitors in Caldwell

About 1300 Odd Fellows and Rebekahs from 25 southwestern Idaho lodges attended the opening of Caldwell’s new Odd Fellows lodge building. An estimated 900 were out-of-town members. Refreshments and a large ballroom program filled the hall as crowds spilled onto the dance floor. A humorous ice contest between Mrs. Pearl McClurg and W. A. Coughanour drew laughs as Coughanour’s ice-handling failed to prompt a speech. Ice prizes and drifting balloons caused a near riot among attendees. The Elks minstrel numbers and Forrest Sower’s jazz orchestra provided the entertainment and dancing later in the evening.
