Nampa Ferry Breaks Loose Across Snake River
Adam Blackstock, a leading cattleman from south of the Snake River, crossed the Snake River on the Henderson ferry with about 50 head of cattle and several saddle horses when the boat half way across the cable gave way. The cargo was thrown into the river, two cattle were killed after injuries, calves lost, and horses escaped. Cattle landed on both shores as the boat drifted two miles before rescue. Blackstock laments failed delivery to buyer J L Baker and ferry operator fears costs to recover boat. Blackstock gave $20 to help. No G. D. Snell, First National cashier, left for Salt Lake on business.
