The college plans a large commencement with numerous musical selections and declamations. A senior play by Marley Philpott features Alta Baumrancher and a large cast, followed by diplomas and a formal procession through Caldwell and Lewiston venues.
Idaho Weekly Industrial Review reports Nampa plans a finer park and Gleane Ferry receives $55,000 for a high school building. Lava Machinery arrives for a see Wailsse-Altente mining venture. Benngerills notes several gold strikes in region.
County officials show little interest in re election this year with salaries seen as insufficient. Rumors tie Sheriff George Proman and other leaders to potential county races while L C Knowlton resigns as county recorder citing pay concerns. Speculation includes a possible run by Clarence Hill for county attorney and a new slate of faces at the Canyon County capital building.
Dr. Wm. A. Keever head of the University of Kansas child welfare department since 1913 will lecture at the Prabytarian church next Thursday evening. Admission is free and all are invited. Dr. Meir, born in Jog cabin vis prairie, has been a cowboy, a country teacher, a philosophy professor at Kansas State Agricultural College, and a former professor at the state university. He is nationally renowned and has written several books on community and welfare topics.
Emmett oil interest reports shale beds near Potter ranch in Ola once mistaken for coal. Officials of Idtho Oil and Gas Co say deposits stretch wide, burn hotter than coal, and may yield oil if drilling funds are raised.
The municipal band presents the weekly concert at Memorial park starting at 7 30 pm The program features Weldon Overture Crown Diamonds Auber t Patrol and more with an intermission of five minutes The event invites residents to learn to play with Dr McKeever at the Presbyterian church Thursday night.
Caldwell crushed Nampa Sunday afternoon before the largest crowd of the season as every Caldwell hitter except Cornell had at least one hit. Nelson piled up five safe blows, Westcott and Webb each hit three times, and Benedict Westcott belted a second homer. Nampa's Harris started, but Caldwell roughed him and Dot Joyner held the mound for Caldwell. Stewart homered for Nampa in the third, while Nampa scored late on a wild pitch and a sacrifice. Caldwell meets Boise next, with Zimmerman on the mound for Caldwell and Nelson likely at first base.
The Caldwell women inmate auxiliary to the American Legion will meet Monday at 2 30 PM at the Commercial club rooms to finalize a charter recently received from state headquarters. Fifteen Caldwell women eligible for membership signed the charter and will become charter members. All wives mothers and sisters of Legion members may join and attend to build an active local organization in time for the Bond selection on June 15. Emblems have been ordered by Frank Mesk adjutant and will be distributed to members.
Dr McKeever to settle at the Presbyterian church Thursday night with originator J A Melia. J A Melia leads Community Juvenile Welfare Institute. H L Calkins builds a frame garage on Blaine Street. Estimated cost listed at 390.00. A 5000 dollar mortised frame residence is being built in Arlington Height addition.
H W Groesbeck, Mountain States Telephone manager, outlines plans to enlarge Sunny Slope and Riverside district service. A carload of Teoarsama equipment reached Caldwell for installation as part of a rural line expansion to relieve congestion. Wires will extend only part of the full distance to serve Caldwell residents, with more meters and toll lines to follow as subscribers grow from about 100 to 1300.
A group of 14 junior Canyon County Farm Bureau members will travel by auto from Forest Park to Boise for the county club festival, accompanied by Mrs. Hare and others. The trip follows a missed Curtin Park event due to school conflicts. Also, Milo Koyinck faces district court after a six quart possession seizure. Miss Mable Robinson and Miss Hel lo Rice plan a multi week visit to Portland for health and work.
