Enthusiasm for Idaho poultry industry dominated the third annual Gem Blue Poultry Show banquet at Kiwattls clah. Speakers including Dr. A H Upham Lieutenant Governor H C Baldridge and C C Gignoux urged expansion of extension work and dairy cheese growth. Freight rates, butter and eggs markets, and world farm conditions were key topics as Idaho’s agricultural future was championed. Alfred Stone served as toastmaster. Friday closed the third Gem State Poultry show with crowds packing the show rooms. Attendance totaled 7855 over four days, averaging about 2000 daily, with Wednesday the peak at 2560. A theft marred events when Ray Leftwick of Seattle lost a Barred Rock cock, valued at 15 dollars, later reimbursed by the association. Pipe Ordered For City Water System Upgrade
The city water department ordered about 6800 feet of cast iron pipe to upgrade the system. Delivery is expected around March 1 with installation next spring and summer. Revenue from a 9 cent charge plus a 3 cent addition will fund the project, with $15,000 needed. New four and six inch pipes will replace older fir piping on Dearborn street.
