American State Bank Becomes National Bank in Caldwell
Word from Caldwell states that the American State bank has been approved to become a national bank. It will be nationalized soon with a $50,000 capital stock, up from $25,000, and will continue in the same Caldwell quarters under the same leadership, including S. D. Simpson as president and J. C. Nichols as vice president. The new National will be run by a conservative, experienced team, with H. B. Cosby resigning as cashier and P. A. Wiley elected assistant cashier. The bank’s promoters include W. G. Simpson of Mississippi, and the article highlights confidence and expected prosperity for Caldwell under this transition.
