Easter Sunday services at Caldwell churches featured elaborate music and recitations. The Christian church presented a strong sermon by Rev. W. Ei. Bolton, with choral anthems and papers on missions and Africa. The Presbyterian church program highlighted student recitations and songs by children, while the Methodist church emphasized a concise Easter program due to teachers’ other duties. Separately, the Pioneer Irrigation District plans a brick, one-story permanent home, with engineer Hedden to draft plans for approval at the next meeting.

Juror fees in city vs. Jennie Carroll questioned. referred to attorney who cites no legal authority in criminal cases. Election certificates issued for A. K. Steunenberg mayor and other officers. council adjourns to April 20.
Councilman Redway brokered a 25 percent freight rebate with the railroad company to aid the city water works. He pursued the rebates diligently, turning $227 in freight rebates into the water works fund this month. His auditing and advocacy saved city money and boosted confidence in his leadership.
A district No 36 school closed Friday after a seven months term. A good program was rendered and a good time was enjoyed by attendees.
Dr J J Hamilton announces a partnership with Dr Waldrop, a trained young physician with army hospital experience, to expand medical services without raising costs. He believes the duo can raise quality to the best in the state for a town of this size, thanking friends and patrons for support and defending his conduct against critics.
All accounts due to the Kraft Clothing Company must be settled immediately. All accounts remaining unpaid on May 15, 1903 will be placed in the hands of a collector. Kraft Clothing Company. Born near Caldwell on Ey 13, 1903, to Rev and Mrs E Boulton, a daughter.
Montpelier police stopped a lynching prompt action saved a young woman's life after a burly negro assaulted Miss Hemmert at Hotel Burgoyne. The attacker was captured and jailed in Paris as officials halted mob justice. The incident tainted the town’s night life amid fears of harsher punishment.
The Malad Valley branch of the Oregon Short Line will be rushed to completion this summer and will be unique for a railroad in the mountains. The route features hardly any curves or expensive structures and runs forty miles straight through a level valley. Officials say it will be like building a track down a hallway as it traverses the sparsely settled region to aid regional reclamation.
The Kraft Clothing Co will be closed after June 1 as stock and fixtures are bought by S. W. Dee. Ballentyne Bros and Dee will run merged stores with Dee in the Egleston location and Ballentyne partners in Kraft. Kraft retires as the new department store forms and praise is given to Dee’s career.
Sunday at the ball park Payette outplayed Caldwell 24 to 6 in a well attended game. Caldwell showed improvement but lacked the preparation of seasoned players. Nampa game tomorrow is anticipated to be competitive.
