A Monday meeting at Lyons opera house organized the Burke County Progressive Republican League with officers named including President O I Ronning Columbus and Vice Presidents Ole Breding Powers Lake and A F Frebel Coteau See. Runaway Farm Team Plows Through Toward Barn
Dave Landis and his four horses hitched to a binder ran away near Auckerman’s farm Tuesday en route to Carey farm. The team rushed eighty rods before reaching Frank Landis’s barn where a horse fell and the binder was damaged. no major injuries reported. Miss Carrie M. Hansch traveled to Columbus for grain threshing sale, after a rain delay last week she returned to Bowbells.

The Bowbells district court term, among Burke county's shortest, granted 26 citizen papers. The session heard the Woodard divorce by default after a day’s testimony, then considered a new trial in Clark vs. Dimond. Other cases included Sorenson vs. Jensen and Jensen, adjourned to January. Covey of 17 chickens elusive on Martin Gorman farm
On the Martin Gorman farm near the city a covey of about 17 chickens has eluded hunters despite repeated efforts by locals and bird dogs.
