Fatally Dragged by Foot in Stirrup

The Burke County Teachers Association held a large semi annual meeting in Bowbells on Friday with teachers, directors, and townspeople in attendance. President Hecht opened the session with remarks, Bowbells High School provided music, F. E. Heckel welcomed guests, and a noon turkey dinner followed at the Richardson hotel before weather prevented an auto trip to the lake. The hospitality committee, Tim Donovan, F P Heckel, and M H Powers, ensured everyone enjoyed their stay. Next meeting planned for Flaxton in spring.

Man Surrenders to Madness Heli Ends Plight With Theft
Minot North Dakota November 25 Charles White, who left his Ryder homestead claim, hacked his farming gear to pieces with an ax and absconded with four horses. A mortgage holder, Allen O Dell, holds the notes on the four teams. A warrant charges embezzlement and searches continue as neighbors report erratic behavior and suspected insanity. White is believed fleeing with stolen property after abandoning his claim and livestock.

Swanson Installs Private Electric Light Plant on Farm
Burke county North Dakota farmer Gua T Swanson installed a private electric light system on his 14 mile north Bowbells farm. The five horsepower gas engine drives a dynamo producing 32 volts stored in 16 batteries, powering residence barn granary and pump area with a 40 candle lamp. Cashier nearly drowns after breaking thin ice at reservoir
C V Allorin of Burke County State Bank nearly lost his life Sunday afternoon at the reservoir east of town. He fell through the ice into six feet of water as skaters warned that ice near the edge was strong but center ice was perilously thin. Hunter and others rescued him and he required care afterward before recovering.

Prison binds lovers in North Dakota scandal
In Bismarck on November 25, William McBain, 20, of Fessenden, pleaded guilty to criminal operation against his wife Margaret McBain, 16, in a case tracing a two year romance from Canada through Minnesota to prison. He received an indeterminate term at the state penitentiary. Margaret was placed in Humane Officer custody.
