Lignite School Local Basketball Wins and Blizzard Disruptions
Blizzard last week slowed bus routes at Lignite school with only one of five buses operating on Monday and all idle Tuesday night leaving 76 residents to find care. The first official schedule game at Columbus featured Lignite boys and girls over Columbus teams. both losses for Columbus. Coaches and referees included Albert Brickeon Gilbertson and Miss Shells. Lignite led boys 8-4 at halftime and 17-8 final. Girls contest stayed close until end with Lignite prevailing. Return games set for February 13, 1920.

Three Mine Accidents At Williston N D
Three miners were hurt or killed in Williston area mines on November 20. Amos Sarff, 44, died when a two ton coal lump crushed him at Lovejoy mine east of Williston. J J Nelsa was severely injured in a car derailment in Husebye mine, with multiple broken ribs and internal injuries. A third miner narrowly escaped death at the Sudanese mine as a several ton roof coal collapsed where he had stood moments earlier.

Blamayek November 20 The supreme court this afternoon affirmed the jury verdict finding Adolph Lehman of Stark County guilty of murder in the second degree He is to begin a 20 year term in the state penitentiary The killing of Mathias Wetzstein occurred May 20 1917 after a confrontation near Wetzstein’s shack Lehman claimed self defense but the court ruled he was the aggressor and rejected the defense.

Christ Brick Retires From Farm To Seek Higher Wages
