Minot Man Dies Rescuing Woman in Missouri River
Miss Jessie Evens of Garrison, N D writes Roy Torgensen, the young cowboy visiting Minot, died after saving her life in the Missouri river near Garrison. He went under with the steer while freeing her, calling “break the news to mother” as he vanished. He had appeared in Minot on September 14 riding a bronco and claimed to backtrack from California to San Francisco. He left the farm northwest of Minot with another rider and planned to visit Turtle Lake before proceeding to Allendale.

Devils Lake N D Nov 19 A traveling loner named Joseph Lavery aged 72 perished in a fire last night east of Grand Harbor. He was found about a hundred yards from his covered wagon in a pasture, after suffering burns but escaping briefly. Letters on his clothes identify him as a brother of Father Lavery of Plainview Minnesota.
