Steele Lynching of Geo W Baker Shocks North Dakota Town
A mob of fifteen to twenty men overpowered Sheriff Filbin at the Steele courthouse took Geo W Baker to the stockyards and hanged him from a gate. The mob fired at least ten times after the act, leaving his face unrecognizable. Baker had killed his wife and her father in Dawson on October 31 and had arrived from California days earlier. Coroner’s jury ruled death by mob violence with no blame on officers, while identities of lynchers remain unproven though outsiders from Dawson Medina and Jamestown are suspected.

The funeral of Oland Bendixon who died early Thursday morning last week was held Sunday at two o clock from the Bendixon residence with Rev R J L McKelvey officiating A large crowd attended and burial was in Bowbells cemetery Madison Wis born August 6 1860 he married Ina C Simonson in 1889 then moved to Minnesota and Wisconsin before settling in Bowbells North Dakota He is survived by four sisters his wife and five children

Threshing crew arrested for malicious mischief in county
Six men on a threshing crew near the city were arrested by Constable Masters on a malicious mischief charge. Warrants allege the group broke windows at a livery stable and at Peter Helderson’s restaurant and bakery.
