D H Ugland former cashier of Security Bank Knox is sought by a U S District Court on charges of using the mails to defraud. He allegedly sold forged mortgages totaling 200 000 to an eastern concern. Paroled from state prison for banking law violations he was later jailed on a theft charge with bail set at 1500. His wife obtained a divorce while he was incarcerated and there are reports of land business arrangements.
The Bowbells teachers institute, led by J. W. Riley and Miss Rowley, runs at Royal Theatre and courtroom with two sessions daily. Attendance reaches sixty six despite bad weather, featuring talks by Rev H A Tewell, Mary Sedlacek, Mrs Martha P Tatem, and A G Crane. A large list of attendees from Bowbells and surrounding towns enrolls, and residents open homes to visiting teachers.
Statl correspondent reports Dr Stark visited P A Ekstrom’s home to deliver a baby. The family is well. Friends and relatives include Art Leslie Albert Haugen Kate Ham mberson Rudy Rierson and others visiting area homes and Minnesota trips noted.
Last Saturday afternoon visits occurred at the P. A. Bkatrony home with Mr and Mrs John Carlson and family. Peter Nelson and son Oden shopped at Kenmare last Saturday while Carl Anderson called at Niobe last Saturday accompanied by Miss East. Miss East teaches at Bow bells this week leaving no school. Arn est Nelson now works at the Albin Wedlin home near Niobe. The ladies and Olaus Hongen home were largely attended. The Consumers' United Stores company will allow a cert holder and member to become a stockholder and vote in officers and policies. The move follows the firm’s 2nd anniversary and its growth to 33 stores with $1.09 million annual business, saving members up to $250,000 yearly. Plan includes new clothing and hardware lines adding $2 million yearly.
Judge Allen of Ransom county district court rules state pool hall inspection law unconstitutional. Case likely to be appealed. If upheld, licensing of pool halls bowling alleys theatres moving picture shows taxi lines and soft drink venues would revert to local control. Mentions Earl Tostvin and Bill Langer's support.
