Minot Police Capture Elopee Pair in Rooming House
Minot North Dakota November 2 1923 Patrolman John Reed arrested Glen Davis 26 and Mrs Clara Bigler 17 of Cando for alleged elopement. Bigler's wife was remanded to her mother and Davis held on a statutory offense with bail set at 1000 dollars. Authorities suspect Davis may be sought in a jail delivery case in Cando.

Dawson North Dakota October 31 George W Baker aged 37 killed his wife and her father T KE Glass in the Glass residence. Baker shot seven times with a 38 caliber revolver after breakfast at the Glass home and was taken to Steele County Jail. Coroner's inquest held this afternoon with Baker claiming self defense amid rumors of past desertion from the U S Army.

Steam Explosion Kills Two Near Lemmon
A C M S P locomotive exploded two miles east of Lemmon North Dakota killing engineer Seeley and brakeman Breiting and seriously injuring the fireman. The boiler likely dried then cooled, causing a violent blast that demolished the engine and hurled debris. Seeley of Marymath and Breiting of Marmath leave wives and children. the fireman is hospitalized and expected to recover.

Alleged Jokers Bound Over in Malicious Mischief Case

Narrow escape as man struck by Soo freight train
Roy Gray Grayson of Drake narrowly survived a hit by a northbound Soo freight last night on the rear Valley street tracks in Minot. He suffered two broken legs and serious bruises but doctors believe he will keep his limbs. Grayson, about 27, was walking on a short cut to town when struck, and his wife at Drake has been notified.

Utica Oct 20 After a long illness Vice President James Schoolcraft Sherman died at his home from uremic poisoning caused by Bright's disease. Death followed a brief improvement then rapid decline with a 106 degree fever. General riot as liquor seizure met by crowd in Bismarck
In Bismarck on November 2 a crowd of several hundred attacked North Dakota Enforcement League officers as they tried to seize liquor from Elk club rooms. A North Dakota farmer near Harvey reports a ten year sheep raising venture as a profitable side line. Michael Baler Sr. started with 28 ewes in 1912, yielding 27 lambs and 11 pounds of wool per ewe. Wool income at 16 cents a pound totaled 76 dollars. 27 lambs valued around 6 dollars each would be 162 dollars, with potential total cash income near 221 dollars. Lambs used for home meat boosted value, with market fattening possible at about five dollars per lamb by November first.
