Lone Homesteader Tries Suicide in Kenmare Hills

Sibonius Swanson, a homesteader on a claim near Kenmare, slashed wrist and throat with a razor last Friday. His brother found him at 5 p.m. in a bloodstained room and he was rushed to St. John’s hospital in Kenmare. doctors fear some recovery but expect loss of use of his left arm. Swanson confessed he acted in despair and now expresses remorse, though hospital staff question his sanity.

Gilbreath Honored By National Corn Association

President Eugene D Funk appoints W C Gilbreath of Bismarck North Dakota as vice president for the state to represent agricultural interests in the association and National Corn Exposition. Gilbreath plans an exhibit as Commissioner of Agriculture at Omaha December 6 to 18. The role aims to boost farmer involvement and connect North Dakota with national grain experts. Masters and Baker promote City Dray and Transfer Line services in the same issue.
