Nestor offers to buy all Barnes county barley at 50c

S K Nestor of Geneva North Dakota owner of the Nestor farm north of Valley City announces a genuine offer to contract for all No 3 barley grown in Barnes county at 50 cents a bushel for August September and October delivery He will buy 300000 bushels or more and will contract by acre with delivery to the nearest railway station Forum reports the bold proposal as a market measure amid barley shortage and high prices.

Mean Trick Shows Contempt for Traveler North of Town

Dr J D Windell recounts a cruel prank by a smart aleck youth and companions north of town Tuesday night. While en route by sleigh to Glenburn for a physician’s wife, their sleigh blocked his path, forced off the road, overturning and damaging it. The doctor, missing his six shooter, would have taken control of the road. He returned to Minot and labeled the act contemptible, urging a lesson be learned.

Revocation of 1907 Land Title Evidence Order by President

The President revokes the February 12 1907 order requiring examination of all patent applications to issue land titles. Congress did not provide sufficient funds to carry out the order. The General Land Office will use available resources to curb fraud and support bona fide settlers, with claimants pending proofs to furnish non alienation affidavits before receipts issue.

Deaths From Cold In North Dakota Counties Reported

Northwestern North Dakota Federation reports cold related deaths in Williams Ward and Wells counties totaling eight. Williams saw two deaths from cold and a Crosby teacher’s death. Ward counties White Earth Blaisdell and Kenmare deaths noted with scant details. Wells County had three alcohol related deaths. Some counties report no winter fatalities and many elderly residents aged 65 to 85.
