Mondak rustlers plead guilty in Valley county case

Verne Parker and Jim Smith admitted guilt after jury selection in a horse stealing case. The state outlined a wide scheme to mobilize a large herd from Valley county to North Dakota. Hess lost five work horses, eight days of riding led to pursuit near a shy North Dakota. Judge Tattan to sentence after term. penalty ranges one to fourteen years.

Nordrach Ranch Sanitarium Report in 1909 letter

A letter from Eric Olson at Nordrach Ranch Sanitarium near Colorado Springs dated March 3 1909 notes improving health after arrival February 21 and plans to move to Modern Woodmen Sanitarium in early April. The Nordrach site comprises 86 tents with about 40 patients current and 11 described as doing fine.

Local Harvey Boxing Match Ends Draw After Scrappy Bout

From the Harvey Herald: A. L. Ensign of Bowbells vs Mark Nelson of Minot in Harvey Saturday night. The bout was competitive with Ensign nearly finishing Nelson in the second round but a Nelson foul led to a draw after both fighters and seconds left with the crowd demanding a fair result. Nelson and his second pocketed the gate while fans debated the decision. Eric Olson signs off from the Nordrach sanitarium describing the scene and distant weather.

W. Thomas Withrow still hunts for a buyer after offering himself for sale to the highest bidder with a $10,000 minimum. He received abusive anonymous letters including a Wisconsin general store owner who offered 11 cents dead and delivered as fertilizer. Withrow replied he will forward the letter to postal officials for action.

Kenmare Manager Robbed in Minneapolis Incident

G W Clark, manager of the cement works in Kenmare, was found dazed at the Security National bank in Minneapolis on Friday. He told police he was robbed of eighty dollars and a gold watch. Detectives seek the stolen items as they follow up the description. Clark is a well known local figure. Mr and Mrs C W West traveled from Saskatchewan to visit relatives nearby.
